Paul O’Grady reveals why he’s a flirting fan as Blind Date returns for a new series…

Q What can you tell us about the contestants?

A Some of the marvellous characters from the last series have come back this year, and we also have a lady who was on the show 26 years ago with Cilla! Her date didn’t go well! There are three drag queens who want to date a criminologist, a smashing Marilyn Monroe impersonator, a lady with a fabulous little lizard who sat in the palm of my hand, good as gold… We had a mother and son going on a double date on a cruise. But my favourite was a pagan witch from Blackpool. She was great fun, but said she’s not allowed to cast love spells.
