Most people who win the lottery splash out on exotic holidays or a dream home, and often pack in the day job. But not the islanders of Scotland’s North Uist.

In January 2020, 101 members of the 1,500-strong community shared a jackpot of £3 million on the People’s Postcode Lottery. The individual windfalls ranged from £21,000 to almost a huge £200,000 sum.
