Many months have passed since the first lockdown in March 2020, but patients are still being admitted to Coventry’s University Hospital with COVID-19, including David, who’s on a respiratory ward and is struggling to breathe without oxygen.

‘It feels like I’m being suffocated,’ says David, 49, who’s featured in the opening episode of a brand new series of BBC2 documentary
