Since arriving at Nonnatus House just over a year ago, newly qualified midwife Sister Frances has learnt how to best serve the people of Poplar. But her growing confidence is knocked when her kindness is rejected by one resident.

Sister Frances calls in to see diabetic Albert Calthorpe (Jay Simpson), who requires regular insulin injections to keep his blood-sugar levels stable. When Sister Frances then offers to make a cup of tea, however, she unwittingly upsets Albert’s wife Grace (Samantha Spiro), who tells her to leave immediately!
