Adrian Dunbar returns as a disgraced GP in psychological thriller Blood

NEW DRAMA
Blood
Monday-Friday, Channel 5 HD, 9pm
Channel 5 scored a huge word-of-mouth hit in 2018 when twisty psychological thriller Blood became one of the most talked-about shows of the year.
The first series shocked fans when it was finally revealed that highly respected GP Jim Hogan, played by Adrian Dunbar, had fulfilled his wife Mary’s dying wish to help end her life after she told him she knew he’d stolen money from a patient (see panel, below).
‘I think the first series of Blood was so popular because it’s about family dynamics and we’re all experts when it comes to families,’ says Dunbar, 61.
‘Show me a family and I’ll show you dysfunction. Jim and his family are very dysfunctional, and that’s where the drama exists. Plus, it’s just a really good yarn.’
As the drama returns on Monday, showing over consecutive nights with a feature-length finale on Friday, it seems life is as complicated as ever for Jim and his family.
