Adam Sandler stars as a gambling-addicted jeweller drowning in debt
Adam Sandler has forged a formidable partnership with Netflix thanks to film hits like The Ridiculous 6 and Murder Mystery. Now the US comic is back on the streaming service in gritty dark comedy-drama Uncut Gems.
The 53-year-old star plays Howard Ratner, who runs a jewellery store in New York’s Diamond District. Howard is also a gambling addict and his main concern is paying off the massive debts he has racked up, particularly the $100,000 he owes to loan shark Arno (Succession’s Eric Bogosian).
RECKLESS CHARACTER
Howard also has a messy private life – he divides his time between his mistress and employee Julia (Julia Fox) and his wife Dinah (Frozen’s Idina Menzel).
