Can a failed girl group find success the second time around in a BBC3 comedy?

Reach For The Stars

With Sugababes,

Girls Aloud and Mis-Teeq dominating the charts, the mid-00s was a golden time for girl bands. Yet for every success story there were hundreds of groups whose dreams were dashed.

This new four-part mockumentary follows Maxine Hancock, a mum-of-two who almost hit the big time with girl band Variety a decade ago and is desperate to reunite her bandmates.

The BBC3 comedy, which comes to BBC iPlayer this week, was created by Ben Murray and Lily Brazier from the BAFTA-winning comedy People Just Do Nothing.
