The Irish Sea has been much-discussed during the Brexit negotiations, but what is life actually like for Brits who live alongside this stretch of water?

In the new four-part series Our Coast, Adrian Chiles and Mehreen Baig set out to explore coastlines that are linked by the Irish Sea, exploring the history and wildlife, meeting the locals and discovering what the future holds for these areas.

We caught up with the two self-confessed ‘metropolitan landlubbers’ to find out how they got on during their travels...

EPISODE ONE: MERSEYSIDE

On the Merseyside coast, Chiles boards an ocean liner and Baig hitches a ride on an unusual hovercraft service. Chiles ‘I thought I wouldn’t like cruise ships, but onboard the Queen Mary 2, I found it palatial and rather unstuffy. You don’t have to be a millionaire, and there were so many interesting characters on board from all over the world.’
