The fallout from Perry’s death has seen his suspicious mother Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) cause ructions in the wealthy California community by trying to take twins Max and Josh away from Celeste (Nicole Kidman).

Meanwhile, Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) has struggled to save her marriage to Ed (Adam Scott) following her affair in season one.

What went through your mind when you read the script for the final episode?

We shot a bunch of different endings and then we made a choice later. In fact, we only made a decision about two months ago.
