Presenter Simon Reeve is used to being well out of his comfort zone while making his globe-trotting travel shows. The 45-year-old adventurer was accused of spying by Russia when he was making a documentary in Moldova in 2004, contracted malaria in 2006 while filming his Equator series, and interviewed Imelda Marcos, widow of Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos, in Manila in 2009.
