Attempting to walk the road less travelled seems to be SWARA BHASKAR’s high. She talks to VIRAJ SAWANT about the risks an actor has to take to keep the excitement

If you are a regular Hindi mainstream film viewer, you must have seen Swara Bhaskar’s act as Kangana Ranaut’s friend in TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS and in RAANJHANAA, in which she plays the girl who is in unrequited love with Dhanush. If you are an avid lover of more unconventional film fare, you will know how powerful a performer Swara Bhaskar is. The recognition and international awards that came her way for NIL BATTEY SANNATA and the earlier LISTEN...AMAYA are just the beginning for this actress of substance.
Are web series your new high? How was your experience of working on ‘It’s Not That Simple’?
It was superb! As an actor there is not much of a difference. I obviously don’t act different for a web series from a film. Camera is a camera and a script is a script, after all. I think the web space is a really new and exciting place because there is a lot of fresh work coming up there. Therefore you get to play a lot of new characters that you don’t see in films generally. My web series is special because it takes up the issue of infidelity and relationships in marriage, and a woman who is looking for happiness outside her marriage. All this is shown from the perspective of a woman. That is something we have not seen in Hindi films also. In films like MASOOM, SILSILA or KABHI KABHIE it was all from a man’s perspective. That was the main reason I took this series up. So far I am remembered for roles where I am the Indian girl, so it was like an image change for me.
Does this mean you will be taking up more of web series and fewer films?
