Want to keep Kiddo looking super chic? Here are the biggest trends to watch out for in kids’ fashion this year.
YOUR LITTLE ONE’S
wardrobe is all set to get stylish this year, thanks to emerging new designers and brands in the market, who have a lot in store. From new shades and embellishments to fabrics and embroidery, we round up the biggest trends to look forward to.
Pink is the New Blue
“Over the last year or two, we’ve noticed an increasing demand from parents who want pinks for their sons and blues for their daughters,” says Ruchi Goel, founder of stylemylo.com. “There’s been a very pronounced move towards smashing the gender colour-coding. So for the coming season, a lot of brands who retail with us have come out with pieces that reverse the stereotype.” It’s a sentiment echoed by Neha Sachar Mittal, co-founder of kidology.com, “For our in-house brand, Kidology, we’ve worked with lilacs and blues, using pink, mostly as a secondary colour, as it works well with both.”
Pastel Play
The Pantone colour for 2018 is ultra violet. It’s not surprising then, that kids’ fashion should gravitate towards purples, too, although the tone is more pastel. Lilac and lavender seem to be the go-to colours for most brands, followed closely by soft pinks and lighter blues and mango yellows. “The colours we use are mostly pastel, but this time around, we used a lot of two-toned, dip-dyed fabric,” reveals Nainika Karan, of Delhi-based designer duo Gauri & Nainika.
