Ziva stuns her NCIS co-agents in a “blink and you’ll miss her” return as she protects them from imminent danger.

There was a moment in the final few minutes of the NCIS (2003-now) season 16 finale in March this year when lead agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon, Ryan in 2013 comedy film Freaky Friday) thought that he’d seen a ghost. Standing at the top of his basement steps was ex-NCIS agent Ziva David (Cote de Pablo, Shirah in 2015 miniseries The Dovekeepers). “Gibbs thought that he was hallucinating or seeing a ghost,” says Mark, who adds that Gibbs has mourned Ziva since she died in the line of duty in season 11 (2013). But it’s Ziva, alive and just in time, because armed soldiers in head-to-toe camo were about to storm in. “We don’t have time for pleasantries, Gibbs. I’m here to save your life!” That was the season finale as Gibbs and his rescuer fled the shoot-out and escaped through a secret tunnel. And season 17 is going to not just answer where Ziva has been, but why she’s back now.
