His menacing character as Sajid in Family Man Season 1 and Season 2 was super impressive. Meet the man who essayed the character – Shahab Ali who talks about his foray into the film industry, his struggle, his bond with Sushant Singh Rajput and more.

Shahab, you’ve been around for 4 to five years in the Hindi film industry, how has the journey been?

It’s been a tough yet an enriching journey for me. I first started with cracking auditions for main leads in Broadway-style musical shows. At the same time, I used to send self tests for films, ads and web shows from my hometown Delhi. Just like every other actor, I have also been rejected in auditions so I haven’t got too many opportunities. I had not shifted to Mumbai until I got The Family Man, so I feel that my first work for the web as Sajid has been a good step in my career. I was able to come to Mumbai and go directly to casting offices for auditions.

Now here I am in the City of Dreams and giving auditions everyday and trying my level best to bag roles. The Family Man has brought immense positivity for me but there’s a long way to go. I just hope that this will translate into more quality work because that’s what matters in our industry. I’m positive and look forward to what lies ahead for me in the future. Hoping for the best and prepared for the worst.

You worked with the late Sushant Singh Rajput in Kedarnath, could you tell us something about working in Kedarnath and Sushant Singh Rajput?
