Bollywood projects, reality shows and then private albums, you’ve come a long way. How has your musical journey been?
It has been very interesting and enjoyable. I am enjoying every part of it, the highs and the lows both, even the failures, the rejections and of course, the success. There is learning from everything. I am on a ride and luckily, my journey is still on, that’s the main thing I am happy about.
Which genre do you prefer the most? And who are your muses in the singing world?
Jazz and sufi are my all-time favourite genres. My muses would definitely be Asha Bhosle ji and R. D. Burman. On the western side, I am a huge fan and follower of The Things and John Mayer. And on the sufi side, I love the writings of Bulleh Shah and of course, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. He is eternal, his voice and music will always stay.
With all the pop music coming into India, what is the future of indie and sufi music?
