When Victoria Beckham took the stage to accept her People’s Choice Fashion Icon Award on Nov. 11, she spent several minutes recounting her solo success — saving her hat-tip to hubby David Beckham for a quick, cursory mention at the end.

OK! insiders are buzzing about the real reason the fashion designer was so focused on extolling female empowerment while disregarding the man who’s been by her side: Her 19-year marriage is over!

Though both their reps deny it, a source claims that the couple are barreling headfirst toward a $1.2 billion divorce, and that David’s recent public remarks about his marriage being “hard work” and “complicated” were just a tiny glimpse of their troubles.

“Victoria was in tears over David’s harsh words,” says a source, “but the will to save her crumbling marriage seems to have deserted her. This has clearly been a long time coming.”
