If 2016 was the year of heartbreak, then we can proudly call 2017 the year of the fairytale ending for Matthew “Matty J” Johnson. Because, believe it or not, the Aussie heart-throb has found The One! And no, it’s not Bachie runner-up Nikki Gogan, as we all once dreamed.

Truth be told, we don’t know who’s captured the Sydney marketing manager’s heart. No matter how hard we try to shake it out of him, Matty won’t let on. Instead, he just smiles – and it’s the kind of smile that screams genuine happiness.

“You sound surprised,” he says when we tell him we’re happy to hear he’s in love.

Surprised? Not at all. Relieved? Absolutely.

After Matty J’s brutal break-up with Georgia Love, 28, during last year’s The Bachelorette finale – which saw him lose out to Lee Elliott – then a blink-and-you’ll miss-it relationship with Aussie model Nathalie Darcas, his heart’s been put through the wringer.

But as they say, sunshine comes after the rain, and Matty, 30, tells NW he’s finally found his dream girl – someone who’s “really ambitious and loves what they do, who loves the outdoors, is adventurous and has a great sense of humour”.

Hmm... We’ll be watching this season very carefully!
