Cheryl has never been the most gregarious celebrity, but in the last year – since finding out she was pregnant through to giving birth to baby Bear Payne, now five weeks old – sightings of the former X Factor judge have been scarce to say the least. So, why is she hiding away?

Sources say that since having the baby, Cheryl, like most new mums, is keen to shift her baby weight and would like to do it before the waiting paparazzi get a glimpse. Understandable, perhaps, given the scrutiny over her weight in the past. So, what weight-loss plan is Cheryl on? Her friendship with the Kardashians is well noted. In 2013, she struck up an unlikely relationship with Kim after they posed together for a selfie at a Kanye West concert. Kim’s younger sister, Khloé, turned out to be a fan of the Geordie, too, publicly cementing their friendship by telling her Twitter followers: ‘I found a soul sister in @CherylCole tonight #Yeezus.’
