THE DAUGHTER OF COMEDIAN JOAN RIVERS HAS WRITTEN A NEW BOOK OF TALL TALES ABOUT HER FAMOUS FAMILY

When Joan Rivers got up on stage, she earned laughs with jokes and exaggerated stories about her personal life. Now, the comedian's daughter, Melissa Rivers, is carrying on that family tradition with her book of satirical stories about life with Joan. “I think she would've enjoyed it," Melissa tells Closer. "And she would have also been annoyed that she did not come up with these tall tales."

Lies My Mother Told Me: Tall Tales From a Short Woman grew out of Melissa's need for levity during the darkest days of the pandemic. “My writing partner and I would both look forward to our writing sessions, knowing we'd be able to laugh for a couple of hours,” says Melissa, 54, who adds that the world could still use some chuckles. “I look forward to a time when I can go back to sleeping through the whole night,” she says.
