Behind the success of Inside Edition, celebrating its 30th season

THIS JUST IN: DEBORAH Norville is actually three people.

OK, that’s a bit of fake news. Yet the anchor of Inside Edition (the long running real newsmagazine show) truly does charge through life like a one-woman army. Between helping deliver stories for Edition, this onetime Junior Miss and Phi Beta Kappa graduate has written three self-help and two children’s books, contributed to four Chicken Soup for the Soul titles, hosted her own primetime cable news hour, and crafted a cottage industry out of her passion for knitting (two books, a PBS TV series, and a line of designer yarn). In addition, the sports nut has helped steer her three kids into athletics and good colleges.

How does the 59-year-old do it all? “I have no idea,” she says with a laugh. With all she juggles, it’s a marvel that Norville— who starts most days at 6 a.m. in the New York City home she shares with her husband of 30 years, asset management CEO Karl Wellner—manages to remember how to get to Edition’s NYC studio.
