Kenya has very few alternative investment managers among them being Cytonn Investments which focuses on private equity and real estate. Their business model is heavily borrowed from developed markets. It is highly risky and demands active management.
We also have Centum Investments, a private equity firm which invests majorly on growth business es. They also do venture capitals and buyouts in areas they realize potential. It majorly does green field investment and rarely does brown field investments. Centum recently exited its investment in GenAfrica where it sold its stake to Kuramo Capital. It also sold its stake in Platinum credit explaining that they had realized their optimal value in the investments.
