With the internet becoming more accessible to a majority of population in India and around the world, Internet of Things has emerged as a technology that is revolutionising multiple sectors
According to the latest Kantar IMRB ICUBE Report, the internet user base in India has reached 566 million in 2018 from 481 million in 2017. With the internet becoming more accessible to a majority of population in India and around the world, Internet of Things has emerged as a technology that is revolutionising multiple sectors. Rapidly rising population of the country has over-burdened the Indian education system but adoption of IoT has a potential to improve the quality of education in the country.
IoT in Education
A majority of educational institutions in the country are using offline methods for marking attendance or online methods using ERP software. However, both the processes involve the teachers sharing their time among non-academic activities. With the adoption of IoT, these institutions can help automate these tasks and enable the teachers to focus on academic activities.
By making the classrooms sensor-enabled, RFID technology can be used to track the attendance for the students as well as the teachers. As these devices are connected to a common system, attendance can be stored automatically and can be accessed by teachers, parents and other staff members. This will not only save a lot of time but will also enable the teachers to focus on providing a better learning experience for the students. 3D cameras can detect individual students and provide exact location and behavioral pattern throughout the duration when he/she is in the campus, thus increasing security on campus.
