Generators manufacturers hope to go back to pre-covid times soon
Recently, the central government’s panel Com-mission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) lifted the ban on use of diesel generator sets in Delhi-NCR. The diesel sets were banned by the commission on October 28 as part of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) measures in view of poor air quality in the city. With the improvement in air quality, the panel has now allowed the use of diesel generators. The move comes following air quality forecasts and meteorology analysis.

In another move, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has notified the draft revised norms for emissions from generators which will be same for all fuels and even for upcoming fuels. It will be effective from July 2023. At present there are three different emission norms for generator sets based on different fuels gasoline, diesel and dedicated CNG, dedicated LPG, dual fuel and bifuel. The revised standard is a single standard covering all available fuels and upcoming fuels such as producer gas, hydrogen gas, etc., the proposal said.
