Pope Auctions His Lambo

Lamborghini is a brand that’s typically associated with ostentatious pop stars, rather than the pious type. But, back in 2017, the chaps at Sant’Agata decided to do something different – by creating a one-off Huracan for Pope Francis.

While it was gifted to him last year in November, it was widely understood that the rear-wheel drive Lamborghini was never going to cut it as a Popemobile – for one, there was no space behind the cabin for the Pope’s glass turret. It is a mid-engined supercar with a fire-breathing V10 after all! The whole idea behind presenting His Holiness with a Huracan was to raise money for charity – a purpose that was well served as this one-off Huracan fetched over 800,000 Euros – almost five times its original value – at auction by RM Sotheby’s.
