(+)Performance, handling, build quality

(-)Gear shifts feel heavy

Scramblers have always been an interesting subcategory of motorcycles. Light, simple and fun. And Triumph’s Street Scrambler impressed me when I rode it first, with its mix of performance, handling and retro-cool appeal. For 2019, the bike gets a host of updates which bring it in line with the updated Street Twin.

What is it?

The Triumph Street Scrambler is one of the current generation Bonnevilles. It shares its 900cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine and five-speed gearbox with the Street Twin, though the chassis differs slightly. The bike is also taller courtesy longer fork legs though suspension travel is the same as the Street Twin at 120mm. Being taller, it also looks slimmer which goes well with its image of being an offroad worthy motorcycle.
