The CV industry is on an upswing for the last few months. After experiencing ups and downs over the last few years, it is growing. Thrust on infrastructure and construction are said to be one of the most influential factors, the disruptions in the form of demonetisation, move to BSIV and GST notwithstanding. Innovative strategies and ‘staying power’ have led to some CV makers experiencing a good rise in domestic demand. CVs with engines that were perceived as high powered, and therefore inefficient, suddenly seem to make sense. As fleet operators look at higher utilisation levels and operating costs, the CV industry, in 2018 is expected to ring in better and sustainable growth. With the movement to rated payload rising, and the advent of SCR-based technologies leading to a rise in operating costs, the year 2018 is expected to spring some positive surprises as well. Especially in the wake of rising efficiency and higher utilisation. As the hub and spoke transportation model redefines itself, the demand for LCVs is expected to be high.
