Once snubbed by the establishment , Euro-Amercian hybrids are attracting ever-higher sales price.

Hybrids On The March

The term ‘hybrid’ had an entirely different meaning before the advent of the Toyota Prius and other green-credential cars. Euro-American hybrids offered a more affordable (and reliable) way into GT ownership during the 1960s and ‘70s.

The concept first appeared in the 1930s, with the likes of Atalanta, Brough Superior, Lammas Graham and Railton taking American running gear and clothing it in home-market bodywork. The idea was repeated in the 1950s by Facel Vega and several years later when the likes of Bristol, De Tomaso, Gordon Keeble, Iso, Jensen and Monteverdi saw the value in clothing reliable American mechanicals in exotic bodywork.
