Range Rover Velar: New SUV Slots in Between Evoque & Sport

The latest SUV to bear the Range Rover badge takes design and style to another level and combines it with futuristic minimalistic interiors to make the Velar the most good-looking SUV with Land Rover’s go anywhere tech. JLR first worked on the Range Rover brand before turning its attention to the Discovery marque. Born first were the Range Rover flagship, the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport and these were followed up by the Discovery Sport and the Discovery. However there remained a gap between the large seven-seater Range Rover Sport and the small three door Evoque that was difficult to fill with variations and iterations of the Evoque 5-door or the Sport with five-seats. In the meantime, Jaguar was well on its way to launching its first ever SUV and when that hit the market, it was clear that Land Rover would use the very same platform to fill in the gap between the Evoque and the Sport. And even though both the Jaguar F-Pace and the Range Rover Velar now share the same platform and have the same engines, the approach towards the making of the two vehicles is very different.

Now that the Velar is ready to hit the roads worldwide, we were out in Norway driving the SUV which could very well be on Indian roads in the next couple of months with bookings starting as early as towards the end of this month.

The fourth Range Rover brings about a total revolution in design, not only on the inside, but the outside as well. According to the chief design officer of Land Rover, Gerry McGovern, the Velar is now the compelling, stand-out deign it the class, showcasing perfectly optimized volume, powerful, taut surfaces and a stunning silhouette.
