Champ will quit LMP1 this year
Turning attention to Formula E
PORSCHE has confirmed that it will pull out of the World Endurance
Championship’s blue riband LMP1 class at the end of this season and announced it will enter an official factory team in the Formula E championship from 2019.
The German manufacturer is the reigning World Endurance champion and has won the gruelling Le Mans 24 Hours race for the past three years in a row.
A board meeting in Germany last week to determine the fate of the firm’s LMP1 team has resulted in the programme being cancelled one year early.
