Product Development and Skill Enhancement Has to Go Together
Auto Components India
|March 2017
The automotive industry in India is going through a very dynamic phase, where in not only the technology level of the trucks are advancing quickly, but also the business operations and services are getting more professional and sophisticated. The skill requirement in automotive industry is therefore at all time high.
From the R&D skill to develop new designs to the manufacturing skill to produce high-technology and high-quality trucks; from the driving skill to drive the truck safely and efficiently to the maintenance skill to keep the truck running like new; from the business skill to run the operation profitably to the team handling skill to retain the good talent in the organisation etc. at all levels of the industry, there is huge surge in skill requirement.
In order to meet these requirements, industry is also gearing up well. In other way, I would also like to say that these demands are created by one arm of the industry, while the other arm is working to meet those demands, resulting into overall evolution of the industry. Therefore, while high-technology products and more-professional services are being introduced in Indian market, the companies have also started focusing on training needs of its employees. Training centres are being established to provide training to the operators, technicians and drivers – not only on the technology skills front, but also on soft skills.
Volvo Group’s mission statement is “Driving prosperity through transport solutions”. Therefore, we have always focused on overall up liftment of the society through our business and various other means. Our approach is very much in line with government’s Skill India Mission.
