Eoin Fairgrieve's Casting School Part 13: Shooting Lines

THE MAIN PURPOSE of a shooting line is to help you to cast farther, which it achieves because it has a thin diameter and creates less friction against rod rings on the outbound cast. The main types of line are monofilament nylon (mono) and plastic-coated braid or mono. Shooting lines connect, by loops, to the backing and the head.

The river is one of Ireland’s most productive salmon fisheries, along with the River Moy.
