BUDGERIGARS

AFTER a successful 2019 breeding season, I have been eagerly looking forward to the start of the 2020 version.

We have entered a few shows this year and have done OK, but once August hit the birds started falling to bits (from the show condition point of view) and began to pair up among themselves in the flight. For the last however many years I have paired up in September and it has worked very well, so I am doing so again. And within the varieties that we keep I have made some superb pairings, in my opinion.

I am aiming for 2020 to be my best-ever season in numbers and quality. I am looking to take the birds to the next level. The last few years’ of building my lines more strongly should come out in this season’s youngsters. After cutting back the lacewing family last season, I am aiming to produce more this year, so the family is up in numbers. Also, the greywing family is getting back on track and I am hoping to see some promising steps forward with this line this year.
