warsidaha Warsan Description:

About Us

Warsan is a 25-year-old magazine that was launched in Nairobi at the start of 2000 as a weekly publication with 12 flat paper pages. It has always been published in the native language, and it continues to be so today. It collaborated with foreign organizations operating in Somalia but based in Nairobi. They never insisted that we write in a universally understood language (English), but rather, they learned the native language.

The publication transitioned into a magazine in 2015 and remains so, still in the native language. It has a website called thewarsan.com, accessible in multiple languages. As Somalis, we cease to exist if we lose our language. Shouldn't we preserve it?

Our Vision and Expectations

Our mission is to be the source and distributor of political, economic, and social news from around the globe, with a special focus on Somalia. We are not driven by self-interest but rather by the greater good. We aim to be a media outlet that connects with society, provides timely information, engages with the public, and promotes the native language.

Our Ethos

We inform, guide, and lead political leaders, intellectuals, and professionals managing politics, economics, and social matters. We caution against economic, judicial, and political injustices. We neither fear, retreat, nor hesitate to stand for the oppressed. Oppression is not part of our record, and when wronged, we seek justice through the law. We provide efficient service to all we interact with, anytime, anywhere, and under any circumstances, ensuring quality beyond compare. A mature media or thriving business requires skilled, knowledgeable, and creative professionals. This is who we are, and our principles are warm hospitality, mutual support, respect, and collaboration.

Our Aspirations

Preserving the native language and fulfilling our role in that respect has always been our top priority. Serving our readers with accurate news is another key priority. We do not disseminate vague information. We share well-rounded, timely, and appropriate insights, enabling our followers to shape their political, business, and personal decisions. We possess unique understanding and expertise in meeting the informational needs of our audience. Warsan’s readership includes political leaders, professionals, higher education lecturers, students, businesspeople.
