What is design? It is the coming together of an idea, a thought, with the purpose of creating something. But design goes beyond the aesthetic. It is a fact. That’s why big brands are increasingly turning to design to set their products apart. And does this help sales? Absolutely. We know that what first attracts us is what we see. Then, if we add functionality and comfort, the deal is done. As TRENDS is a magazine that oozes design, we have prepared a Product & Design special for this issue. We’ve brought together several brands that stand out in the market for the magnificent design stamped on their products, such as Haier, Velux, Vispring, Cobermaster, Suffa, Bicachair, among many others represented in the usual section: Product (Trendsetter). But in addition to the major brands, we’ve selected some striking faces with an excellent track record in design, such as José Carvalho Araújo, who started out as a product designer and is now one of the most illustrious figures on the national architecture scene; Ana Borges, an interior designer who designs and creates spaces with soul; Deanna Comellini, the designer and artistic director of G. T.DESIGN, for whom rugs are a way of life; fashion designer Nuno Gama, who presents new designs and new pieces with every collection; and... if you look at all the features in this issue, you’ll find design at every turn of the page. This is what design is. It’s everything we see and feel!
