Asgiriya Vihāraya and Malwatta Vihāraya are the two main temples of the Siyam Nikaya. The tireless dedication of Venerable Velivita Saranankara Thero ensured the revival of the Buddhist Order and as such Sri Lanka commemorates the 260th anniversary of this significant occasion.

In Sri Lanka we can drive a little over four hours from the tropical ambiance of Colombo and smell the roses and carnations for we are blessed with the temperate highlands of Nuwara Eliya.

Fishing boats, small huts with thatched roofs, and silhouettes of people walking back and forth dotted the coastline. Tall coconut trees towered over this scenery while the aquamarine depths of the ocean in front shimmered softly in the sun. This was the isalnd of Baththalangunduwa located off the coast of Kalpitiya.

In the modern world museum is a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic or cultural interest are documented, preserved and presented. Sri Lanka’s National Museum of Colombo is an exceptional example for this for its sheer wealth of exhibits.
