Founded in 1912 during a turbulent period in Italy, Montegrappa gained renown as a company of luxury products manufacturing gold nibs and fountain pens. While producing a continuous flow of limited editions, these pens have found their way into the hands of iconic figures including heads of state, royalty and celebrities. More recently its series of Genio Creativo limited edition of writing instruments honours artistic giants.
Italians excel at creativity. They showed the world that there are many ways to wear a suit than with a tucked-in shirt and tie. They legalized going sockless. Italians always steal the limelight by simply being individualistic in an understated way. They are comfortable in their own skin; but may be too comfortable that they are reluctant to step into the future.
At Christies London, the Oriental collection of rugs and carpets exude a rich history and tradition that dates back centuries. Each has a story that is entwined in its skilfully weaved tapestry where detailed designs and the material used depict a time of opulence.
