The government has given priority to Agriculture and its allied industry and has allocated approximately Rs 2.83 lakh crore for agriculture and allied activities, irrigation and rural development. The government has envisioned setting up of agriculture warehouses, cold chain linkages, reefer van facilities, doubling the farmer’s income, introducing Kisan Rail and Krishi Udaan, increasing funds for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and one-product one-district scheme for better marketing and export of horticultural crops. With the world economy in slowdown and the medical fraternity in an all out war to eliminate Coronavirus, going Back to Basics seems to be the best bet presently for the country. Union Budget is always a mixed bag of hits and misses. Some cheers it while other wants more.
