As a small business owner, you may have dreams of your company becoming the next Amazon or Apple, or you might be content making a splash in your local community. Either way, you may wonder how you can make it against large companies that seem to have the people and resources to do the things you can't do.

Businesses of all types and in every sector are capable of significant growth. The constraining factor often isn't the business model - it's the ambition and capability of the owner-manager, although it may take longer to grow in some sectors and some business models can be scaled more quickly than others.

In this issue, we focus on making your small dreams gain wings to grow big. Hence the cover story of this issue is “Small to BIG – Challenges of Growth”. There are a lot of intangible obstacles that small businesses face during the journey of growing and upgrading. A lot of them fail because they don’t know how to respond well to competition on the global/national front. When small businesses grow big, balancing quality and growth is a huge challenge. Added to that, there are always cash flow management issues. In this issue, we take a look at all of these challenges and a few ways of tackling them. You will read about smart business partnerships, factors and skills that are catalysts for business growth and how small firms can compete with big businesses. This month end, on 29 and 30 May 2019, we will be organizing the 3rd Annual Startup and SME Pitch, Awards, Conference and Expo – The AEONIAN 2019 and Small Enterprise Business Awards 2019. Over 2500 entrepreneurs have registered to attend the 2 days mega gathering of SMEs and Startups at the St.John’s Auditorium, Bangalore. The finalists are announced and count down has started to biggest Startup and SME event!
