With pressures on schools to offer creative outlets for students, it is vital that theatres and outside bodies continue to thrive. One such is the Chichester Festival Theatre, with its longstanding reputation for providing incredible opportunities for young performers and in this issue, our ‘Big Interview’ is with Justin Audibert, recently installed as the new Artistic Director and determined to continue this fine tradition.
Also in this issue, we chat to the team behind Wonder Fools, offering fantastic opportunities across Scotland and beyond for young people and communities to engage with and be empowered by the arts. Plus we met the driving force behind the Jack Studio theatre, a multi-award-winning venue, recently awarded ‘London Pub Theatre of the Year’ plus an Artistic Director Award in the Offies.
We pay a visit to the highly ranked Guildhall School of Music and Drama to discover the broad range of options now offered across music, drama and production, providing lifelong learning and training for children, young people, adult learners, and creative and business professionals. A ‘cross-discipline’ approach to teaching the arts in schools is championed by Susan Elkin in this issue’s ‘Pause for Thought’ piece and we chat to young actor/singer Gil Sidaway as he embarks on his career.
