Plus, research in Neuropsychopharmacology suggests that DHEA optimizes levels of serotonin and dopamine to reduce the risk of depression and anxiety. And while the body's DHEA production wanes over time, you can lift your levels naturally with these simple tips.
Snack on some almonds
They're packed with magnesium. And a study published in the journal Biological Trace Element Research found that women who increased their magnesium intake by 250 mg daily (the amount in about a cup of almonds) significantly raised their DHEA levels within eight weeks. The researchers note that magnesium helps combat insulin resistance, which can reduce DHEA production. Not a fan of almonds? You can also get your DHEA-boosting magnesium fix from delicious foods like cashews, avocados and dark chocolate.
