When Amy whipped up her Nana’s famous pie and muffins, she had no idea her beloved baked goods would be a recipe for romance

- Eileen Bloss Buffone

Amy pulled out an index card note that her grandmother had tucked into the recipe file she left to her. Nana passed away six months ago, and she'd labeled each grandchild's name on a personal item she wanted them to have. Amy didn't know why she was given the recipe file. Out of the three granddaughters, she spent the least amount of time cooking.

Nana was an amazing cook. She gave the family many precious memories of dinners and picnics at her home. But Amy didn't share her culinary interest. After working long shifts as a nurse, she usually picked up takeout or popped a frozen entrée into the microwave.

Yesterday was the first time Amy opened the file. Afterwards, she stopped by the local farmers' market and ended up buying more fruit than she needed from a very handsome farmer named Colton Davis, whom she had met a few times.

Later, Amy decided to attempt her Nana's strawberry pie and blueberry muffins. Maybe she'd bring extra baked goods to Colton. Her heart raced whenever she looked into his green eyes.

She highly doubted that cooking and baking would bring her the joy it had brought her grandmother. Although as she prepped, mixed and baked, the process was more enjoyable than she expected.

As the fresh aroma of baking muffins drifted from the oven, Amy's kitchen suddenly smelled subtly sweet—just like Nana's.

The Mary Tyler Moore SHOW

From That Girl in the 1960s to Ally McBeal in the 1990s to Sex and the City in the 2000s, television has long reflected the shifting image of independent women. Yet the true game-changer came in 1970, when The Mary Tyler Moore Show introduced Mary Richards—30, single, stylish and making her way in a newsroom full of men. Rather than being someone’s wife or daughter, she was the star, and she changed television forever. Join us for a look back at rare behind-the-scenes photos of the groundbreaking show as we celebrate its 55th anniversary.

Happy money, happy holidays

The holidays are here (yay!), and with them comes both joy and, let's be honest, stress. For many of us, the shopping lists, entertaining costs or the ache of an empty chair at the table can dim the sparkle of the season. If that's you, please accept my wishes that the days land lightly.
