Actress and comedian Melissa Peterman has brought joy to millions with her roles on Reba, Young Sheldon and now as Gabby on the NBC hit Happy's Place. But when the heartbreaking loss of a friend and the challenges of becoming an empty-nester threatened to steal her smile, it was her faith and self-love that kept her strong. Here, her secrets to bliss

Melissa Peterman loves to make people laugh. "One of the best compliments I've ever gotten is when someone said, 'I was in a dark time, and we'd watch your show and it made us smile,'" she tells Woman's World.
And Melissa knows all about the hard times in life, having lost her best friend to cancer in 2017. But the 53-year-old says the light of gratitude shines even brighter in our darkest moments, highlighting what we have, rather than what we don't. "I've been happily married for 26 years, I have a wonderful son in college and I work with my best friends," Melissa reflects. "I see the love all around me, and my gratitude level goes through the roof!" Read on for her keys to always finding that light.
