The right rose FOR YOU

FOR TIME-POOR GARDENERS

Years of breeding have created pest- and diseasefree roses that require little fuss and definitely no need for spraying.

Rugosa roses are the hardiest, shrugging off poor soil, cold and windy sites.

'Blanc Double de Coubert' has ice-white blooms, like scrunched-up tissues; 'Wild Edric' is a velvety, rich pink.

Both are highly scented, thorny, and have thick, deeply veined leaves, making them excellent for hedging or hugging a perimeter fence (both H1.5m).

For borders, check out pale pink-apricot 'Elizabeth' (H1.4m), with a citrusy, old rose scent, or 'The Country Parson' (H1.1m), which has an abundance of yellow blooms from June to first frosts.
