Why are operation waiting times so unfair?

Q I've been waiting months for an operation for a painful condition that won't kill me but leaves me unable to function normally. I know the NHS is under stress, but some people seem to be seen quickly and I don't understand why. I know someone with the same thing who didn't have to wait. Lillian, Southend

A I'm sorry you have had to wait so like long; it's horrible to feel unwell and debilitated. I know it looks like others are being pushed up the list but there may be underlying factors that you won't know about, which makes their treatment more urgent. I suggest you talk to your GP and see if there is any way things can be speeded up. Also, see if you can be referred to someone who can help you to manage the pain while you wait. Good luck!
