After yet another row, Sara’s husband had finally taken drastic action

Going, Going, GONE

Suitcases, boxes, bulging black bags. Back and forth he went. Sara could hardly bear to watch. She wished Daniel would finish packing the car and just go.

Last week, things had come to a head. 'I can't go on like this!' she'd told her husband.

They must have had the same argument a hundred times but that day was different. Until then, their fights had always ended the same way – Daniel would promise to try harder, she'd agree to sleep on it, then they'd muddle along until the next time something tipped her over the edge. Then it would start over again. It was hard to believe it was finally happening.

Sara watched as Daniel struggled to squeeze a large rug into the roof box. The urge to help him was almost overwhelming but she knew she had to resist. If she went outside, they'd start talking, then he'd stop packing the car and never actually leave.

With a sigh, she turned from the window. This was his decision. He needed to do this by himself. Less than five minutes went by before she risked taking another look out of the window. She was just in time to see Daniel close the roof box. Seconds later, he drove away without so much as a wave or a goodbye.
