Geraldine’s new plan to meet the right people
-
One day back in January, when Mr Dear was at a loose end, he compiled a list of the jobs that he was going to do around the house this year. He then pinned it to the kitchen noticeboard with a flourish – right over the list of chores he compiled in January 2024. This cleverly concealed the fact that some of the 2024 chores have appeared again on this year’s list.
Here are the highlights of the latest list, although not quite – as you'll guess when you read on – in his own words:
1 Repaint outside wall behind rose bed where paint is peeling. (It might interest you to know that this job actually dates back to 2004. Every year he leaves this task until the roses begin to bloom, then insists he can’t gain access to the wall.)
2 Repaint wall at bottom of stairs where paint is peeling.
3 Repaint ceiling in sitting room, where water leaked in 2015 and left a large stain.
4 Clear out garage. (Ha! Ha! Ha! Yeah, I'll believe this when I see it.)
5 Clear flower bed at bottom of the garden and replant.
6 Repair broken window in greenhouse.
