The TV star spills the beans on the newly rebooted reality show
-
Big Brother is back with a new house, new housemates and a new host - Aussie radio and TV star Mel Tracina, who has packed up her life in Melbourne for her dream gig on the Gold Coast.
“I'm feeling as excited as every other OG fan,” laughs Mel, 36, who works alongside Kiwi comedian Melanie Bracewell on the series Cheap Seats. “There's that moment where I have to remind myself that I don’t get to sit at home and watch it - I’m working! Honestly, hosting Big Brother is a huge honour.”
She loved the original format of the show, with 24/7 live filming and the iconic, unplanned, unscripted moments that kept us glued to the couch, so she’s excited Big Brother is going back to its roots - filming live in Dreamworld.
"It just takes somebody being organic," says Mel. "That authenticity is what we latch on to. The fun of live television is that none of us knows what's coming next, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.
"There's someone moderating the stream at all times. Anything indecent will be filtered and anything that puts the housemates in danger will be dealt with."
Here, Mel gives Woman's Day some insider goss on the revamped and rebooted reality series...
