David and his loyal partner worked together for five years
The first time David Raymond met Vader, otherwise known as Police Dog 239, things didn't quite go according to plan.
“I arrived at the Police Dog Squad complex, collected Vader and took him to a disused psychiatric facility used for training to get to know him better,” David tells Woman's Day of that morning in July 2010 when he first met the German shepherd.
“As soon I let him out [of the car], he saw a kangaroo and took off in hot pursuit. My heart dropped as I imagined calling my boss to say I'd lost Vader in the first 15 minutes of meeting him!”
