Meet the real TEN-POUND POMS!

Brian and Edna are so proud to call Australia home after arriving here 60 years ago

It was 1963 in a small sleepy village in England when the Adderson family - dad Brian, mum Edna and their three boys, David, then eight, John, five, and Peter, just two - bravely packed up their lives, and for just a couple of tenners, headed for a better life Down Under.

Little did they know decades later they would become one of the real success stories of the “Ten-Pound Pom” migration scheme. For British-born Brian, now 92, and Edna, 89, that life-changing move remains the second-best decision they've made in their lives.

“Of course, the best decision we ever made was marrying each other - we must've done something right because we've just celebrated our 70th wedding anniversary!” Edna tells Woman's Day.

“Our boys always have a bit of a laugh - we were married on March 19, 1955, and our first son David was born December 12 that same year - you do the sums!” she laughs.

A LAND FAR AWAY

So, from the small hamlet of King’s Lynn, England, they bravely journeyed into an unknown world to a land far, far away.
