‘IT KEEPS HER YOUNG’

A few videos made during Covid lockdowns turned Fina into a sensation!

When 78-year old Fina goes shopping it takes longer than it used to, but that’s not because she’s getting slow. It’s because she has to keep stopping so people can take her photograph!

The Italian grandmother from Sydney shot to fame online and her instagram account @mynonnafina now has more than 930,000 followers who watch videos of her cooking, and getting gently pranked by her granddaughter Maddie.

“She’s a stereotypical Italian grandmother. She gets angry quickly but you can see there’s lots of love there. It’s very wholesome and I think people need that,” Maddie, 29, who started the account, tells Woman’s Day. “But Nonna says she can’t understand why so many people want to watch her!”

Maddie started their social media accounts during the Covid lockdowns, posting videos she’d taken of Nonna Fina for her friends and family in the past. “I woke up to 200,000 views,” she says. “I started posting more and when the lockdown ended we started filming some. It started as a joke and it’s still a joke really. My mum can’t believe her mum’s gone viral doing all the stuff she’s spent her life rolling her eyes at!”
